Biography

Dr. Ayşe Gül Kara Aydemir completed her undergraduate studies in the Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies at Anadolu University, graduating as the top student of her cohort. She received her Ph.D. from the Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies at Middle East Technical University. As part of her doctoral studies, she spent one year as a visiting scholar at the Center for Technology in Learning and Teaching at Iowa State University.

She is currently a faculty member at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at TED University. She teaches courses and conducts research, projects, and training activities in the fields of educational technologies, digital competence, instructional design, media and information literacy, learning analytics, and the use of artificial intelligence in education.

She actively contributes to the Digital Teachers Project, which has reached thousands of teachers across Türkiye, as a coordinator, trainer, and instructional designer. Within this project, she contributes to the design, development, and implementation of training programs aimed at enhancing teachers’ digital competencies, artificial intelligence literacy, and technology-enhanced instructional design skills. She is also a member of the EU Kids Online Türkiye research team, contributing to national and international research on children’s digital media use, online experiences, and online risks.

Her scholarly work broadly focuses on the effective, ethical, and pedagogically meaningful integration of educational technologies into teaching and learning processes. In her research, she examines the implications of digital technologies for learners, teachers, and educational environments, with particular interest in digital literacy, online safety, AI-supported learning, teachers’ professional development, and children’s experiences in the digital world. Through her research and practice, she aims to contribute to more informed, critical, inclusive, and evidence-based uses of technology in education.
