Vis. Lect. Ece Çakır

Ece Çakır completed her undergraduate studies in the Department of English Language and Literature at Hacettepe University in 2013. She received her Master’s and Doctoral degrees from the Department of English Language and Literature at Hacettepe University in 2016 and 2013, respectively, while also serving as a research assistant at the institution during her education.

Having completed her M.A. in the British Cultural Studies Programme, Çakır re-evaluated utopian narratives in twentieth-century English literature within the context of dystopia in her thesis. In her PhD dissertation, she focused on the literary representations of monsters and monstrosity in nineteenth-century English Gothic novels, examining their ideological and cultural transformations. Her research concentrates on nineteenth-century English literature and Victorian novel, the historical evolution of Gothic narratives, and the socio-cultural development of the monster concept. Additionally, she researches and writes on the boundaries of humanity and human identity within the frameworks of utopian, dystopian, and science fiction literature.
