Yükseköğretim Kurumları Destekli Proje, 2020 - 2022
"The purpose of this project is primarily to investigate the listening strategies employed by Turkish young EFL learners in primary school education. It also aims to examine the relationship between the listening strategy instruction and young learners’ listening strategy employment and their achievement in L2/FL listening. The study will be carried out at a private primary school (TED POLATLI College) in Ankara, Turkey. The pupils in this school belong to similar socio-economic backgrounds, which contributes to homogeneity. Teaching methods and techniques of the listening class in the school is structured on the communicative approach, and action-oriented approach, which is a high motivation to conduct the study in that setting. The participants, 115 Turkish EFL primary school level students studying at the year 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st grades, are obtained from populations of equal variances, which give the meaning that the group is homogeneous. Based experimental research design, the students in a classroom would be identified as the experimental group the experimental procedures will be performed while the students in another classroom were in the control group separated from the result of the experiment where an independent variable being tested in this project. The participants did not have prior experiences on listening strategies and LSI beforehand. All pupils at TED POLATLI College (primary school) will experience Listening strategy intervention grounded into their L2 listening classes."
