Proje Özeti

"In today's industry, regardless of the product type, one of the most widely used industrial system elements is filtration elements. The main purpose of these elements is to clean the fluid flow. Filter systems should be selected depending on system design requirements which mainly includes mass flow rate and separation efficiency. The vortex tube separators became widespread by their application on the helicopter engine protection. Experiments carried out show considerable increase in particle trapping efficiencies (more than 96%) and wear-based engine life (up to 20 times). Today, the use of these systems in land vehicles, especially in cargo transportation vehicles, is increasing. Although Vortex tube separators are advantageous in many areas compared to their equivalents, their design is a challenging process. Modeling low velocity flow (in incompressible regime) with very high vorticity is different from other industrial flow models. These flows, which may be outside the general calibration limits of turbulence models, need to be verified by experimental data and, where necessary, the relevant models should be recalibrated. In addition to achieving maximum separation efficiency by causing minimum pressure loss, minimizing the secondary flow that ensures the removal of particles is very critical for engine performance. Within the scope of the project, it will be aimed to investigate the vortex tube flow and turbulence characteristics by numerical and experimental analysis."
