"AR/VR technologies have a very important place in today’s industrial solutions. Using these technologies, operational costs, and efficiency in areas such as maintenance, assembly/disassembly, and training are being improved each day. In many cases, input from trained professionals is needed for completing delicate operations. Usually, this requires the professional to be present in the operation area which is costly and time-consuming. Most businesses do not have these professionals because they are required on occasion and they are too expensive. To find these professionals, businesses may need to contact people over from different cities or even countries. This costs too much money, takes too much time, and requires unnecessary effort. This project aims for a solution in maintenance operations to lower costs and improve completion times by creating a VR software that will connect a technician (working for the business and requires assistance) and a professional. Using the solution, the professional will be able to give visual and vocal instructions to the technician. Using a digital model that is identical to the physical machine being worked on, professionals can give detailed instructions on what to do. Both sides can inspect separate pieces of the model for a greater understanding of the task at hand. Also, by allowing visual cues, we can lower errors made during the maintenance operation. For creating a more immersive environment, HMD (Head Mounted Display) devices will be used."
