Lect. PhD Cemre Mimoza Bartu Esen

Cemre Mimoza Bartu completed her undergraduate studies in the Department of English Language and Literature at Ege University in 2011. She earned her Master’s and Doctoral degrees from Hacettepe University’s Department of English Language and Literature in 2014 and 2022, respectively, while also serving as a research assistant at the institution during her education. As a Fulbright scholar, she conducted a part of her doctoral research at Columbia University’s Department of English and Comparative Literature in New York.

In her Master’s thesis, she examined postmodern and feminist rewritings of European fairy tales, while her PhD dissertation focused on the influence of Don Quixote on the text and characterization in early 18th-century novels. Her work generally revolves around 18th-century British literature and culture, fairy tale studies, postmodern rewriting, and children's literature. She specifically concentrates on the rewriting of fairy tales, ideology, gender, and narrative forms, as well as the relationship between these texts and their historical and social contexts. Additionally, she researches and writes on quixotism, parody, and the early novel tradition.
