Biography
Dr. Taner received his B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from Middle East Technical University in 1996. He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees also in Industrial Engineering with a minor in Operations Research from North Carolina State University in 1998 and 2001, respectively. During his graduate studies, he worked as a research and teaching assistant at North Carolina State University. Before joining TED University, he was a faculty member at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (2002-2003) and Bilkent University (2003-2012).

His research interests lie in the area of design, analysis and optimization of production systems with a primary focus on scheduling and logistics problems. He published scientific papers in international refereed journals such as IIE Transactions, European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Production Research, International Journal of Production Economics, Networks and Spatial Economics, Computers and Industrial Engineering and IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems. He also coauthored a book chapter published in Springer’s International Series in Operations Research and Management Science.

He worked as a principal investigator and a researcher in various research projects sponsored by organizations such as the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey; the Turkish Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology; the National Textile Institute of USA; OYAK-Renault and ASELSAN.

Dr. Taner served as an associate editor for OR Insight between 2009 and 2012. He is a member of INFORMS, POMS and YAD.
