Abstract

In this article, the authors identify key competencies for the growth of academics within the Education for SustainableDevelopment (ESD) framework and offer straightforward solutions for creating more effective, sustainable faculty developmentinitiatives. The recommended strategies aim to help institutions enhance academic engagement with sustainability educationand leadership development, fostering a more dynamic and responsive academic environment. By addressing faculty developmentneeds, institutions can improve the effectiveness of academics, provide sustainability-driven leadership, and ensure that academicsare well-prepared to meet the evolving demands of higher education
