Task enhanced virtual exchange projects are increasingly common practices that create rich interactional and intercultural opportunities for L2 learners from different cultural backgrounds. This study deals with one such project and investigates video-mediated task-oriented L2 (English as a Foreign Language) interactions between Turkish-Tunisian dyads. Using multimodal conversation analysis, we present how word search sequences lead to diverse resolution trajectories and enable meaning negotiation. The participants’ joint efforts to resolve troubles while also maintaining the progressivity of intercultural tasks and talk simultaneously show that word searches are central resources for a better understanding of how interculturality is achieved in situ.
