Transforming Education with Singularity Technologies: Lifelong Learning from Childhood to Adulthood, CRC Press, ss.57-75, 2026
Two of the emerging realms in technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Metaverse, are becoming jointly used in education. AI personalizes, adapts, and enriches user experiences while Metaverse provides an immersive and more dynamic framework for AI and human interactions. The combination of these technologies can potentially be a game-changer in cultivating empowering and personalized learning environments. AI-based tools in many forms (i.e., tutors, peers, tutees, digital twins) can be integrated in educational virtual worlds to help with instruction and evaluation for both individual and group learning scenarios. While this powerful duo aligns well with modern instructional strategies that promote interactivity, gamification, decision-making, collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving, challenges about privacy, security, and ethics need to be overcome for effective use. This literature review chapter sets out to explore the opportunities and challenges entailed in creating and using learning environments with this new-sprung combination to guide future educational practices.
