Özet

Full-motion video (FMV) is a video game convention, where the player interacts with the game-world through live-action or pre-recorded videos rather than ones modeled by the game developers. Aside from arcade, the technique firstly used in the 1990s, yet the outcome was poor because of the seemingly poorly produced videos with limited acting and the insufficient technological means to combine the two media. However nowadays game developers started to experiment with the convention, and it began to create a hybrid production between cinema and video games, some games, like Her Story (2015), have even reached cult status among gamers. Her Story is an FMV Interactive fiction game in which a female character played by Viva Seifert goes through several interviews in a police station; players search through a database by entering keywords to solve the mystery. The game uses interrogation room footage, which lacks any kind of order, as the main narrative element in the game, creating a multi-sequential experience for the players. The chapter that has been conducted examines the video game Her Story from a film theory perspective and the narrative structures of interactive audio-visual experiences.
