Özet

The primary objective of the project is to evaluate the benefits of wind energy and determine economical investment sites for wind energy in Panhandle Texas through calculating payback periods based on quantified actual electricity generation. A 50 kW wind turbine system was used to collect field data. Data analysis enabled yearly energy production and payback period calculations of the two systems. The average payback period of a wind system was calculated to be 13 years. An important novelty brought forward by this study would be the ease of repeating the presented methodology to conduct similar studies for other states in the U.S., or even for other countries as long as fundamental data is present.
