The aim of this study is to simulate supersonic turbulent flow past an open rectangular cavity and to determine the influence of numerical parameters on the computed flow. These parameters include the inviscid flux scheme and computation time. The simulations are performed for the flow at a free stream Mach number of 1.5. The compressible time-dependent Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes equations in three dimensions are solved using the GASPex software employing the k - ω turbulence model. The simulations are carried out with three different numerical flux schemes, namely Van Leer, Roe and AUSM (Advection Upstream Splitting Method) schemes, and the results are compared with both each other and experimental data. The influence of computation time for convergence of the power spectrum of the pressure fluctuations and the effect of flux limiter on the computed flow are also examined.
