Abstract

The development of a computer program to determine the moment-curvature relationship of reinforced concrete sections is presented. The program is developed in a spreadsheet environment and uses realistic material models for confined and unconfined concrete. Model for reinforcement includes strain hardening of steel. The program is used to study the influences of confinement and strain hardening of steel, level of axial load, amount of tension and compression reinforcement on the behavior of reinforced concrete members subjected to flexure and axial load. In the paper, the some requirements of the new Turkish Seismic Code are critically discussed in the light of the results obtained from the analytical studies.
