On top of the already existing difficulties, the current Covid-19 epidemic has greatly increased the vulnerability of
immigrants and refugee students. The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has affected education worldwide and caused
the closure of schools and universities all around the world. Over a billion students and youth’s education have been
interrupted, and most have had to pursue education online. While the pandemic hasrevealed the fragility of the education
systems to the possible unexpected global crisis, the presence of inequality and the digital divide in access and use of
digital technology has also become more salient than before. Those already disadvantaged experienced the digital divide
deeper since they could not access computers, the internet, nor had the skills or support from the household to continue
their education from home. This review highlights the relationship between migration, displacement, and education and
investigates the issues of social justice, inequity, and access to education which has been exacerbated recently with the
COVID-19 pandemic and taken on a new dimension with the digitalization of education specifically for refugees among
other immigrants.
