Biography

Yeşer Torun is a lecturer in the Department of Educational Sciences at TED University. Her research interests include the political economy of education, gender studies, social mobility, meritocracy, social inequality, and critical pedagogy.

She completed her undergraduate education in the Department of Physics Education at Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1997 and earned her master's degree in Gender and Women's Studies from METU in 2002. In 2014, she received her Ph.D. in Educational Economics and Planning from the Department of Educational Sciences at Ankara University.

To advance her academic research, she spent four months at Ghent University as a visiting researcher during the 2009-2010 academic year and eight months at University College Dublin in the 2016-2017 academic year. From 2018 to 2020, she served as a visiting lecturer at Hacettepe University. Alongside her academic work, she spent more than 20 years teaching at institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education.
