Asst. Prof. Aras Alkış

Biography

Aras Alkis completed his doctorate studies at Koc University with a specialization on empirical modeling in marketing under co-supervision of Distinguished Professor of Marketing Koen Pauwels (Northeastern University) and Associate Professor of Marketing Berk Ataman (Koc University). His thesis utilizes a behavioral theory validated in laboratory settings to the retail of consumer packaged goods using secondary data. In related working papers that aim at top tier journals in marketing, with his coauthors Dr. Pauwels and Dr. Ataman, they identify labor market resilience as an underlying factor for heterogeneity and quantify product category interactions with the business cycle contraction effect on the price response asymmetry.
In another working paper with Alexa Burmester (Hamburg University), they aim at explaining performance of complex products with market learning of decision makers. Also he is currently working on a research paper with Eda Sayin (IE Business School) to explain crowdfunding success with emotional aspects of campaign communications.
Dr. Alkis has gained solid teaching experience at TED University in Ankara, founded by the Turkish Education Association. He is specialized on teaching brand management, new product development and social media marketing. Yet his teaching background includes courses on principles of marketing and research methods, as well as production and operations management. He supervised fifteen graduation projects and served as a research committee member.
Dr. Alkis has a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business in Florida and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering degree from Koc University College of Engineering, and attained both via full scholarships.
