Gökçe NUR YILMAZ received her Ph.D. degree from the I-Lab Multimedia Communication Research Group, part of the Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing, University of Surrey, UK, in 2011. Before joining TED University Computer Engineering Department, she worked at Kirikkale University; initially as a Research Fellow (2005), then progressing onto a Dr. Research Fellow (2011-2012), then to an Assistant Professor Dr. (2012-2018), and subsequently an Associate Professor Dr. (2018-2020). While she was working at Kirikkale University, she acted as the Co-Head of the Department (2017-2019), the Head of the Department of Telecommunications (2012-2020), the Coordinator of the Farabi (2014-2020), Erasmus+ (2014-2017) and Mevlana (2014-2017) International Programmes. She was a Part-Time Lecturer in the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association between 2014 and 2015. She visited the University of Coimbra, Portuguese (2014) and Rome Tre University, Italy (2018) as a guest lecturer and researcher, respectively.

She has published many manuscripts in international refereed journals including IEEE TSCVT, IET Image Processing, Springer Multimedia Systems, Springer Multimedia Tools and Applications; conference papers in international conference proceedings including IEEE ICIP, ICOIN, 3DTV-Con, ICCE, and book chapters in CRC Press Taylor and Francis Group as a self author as well as in collaboration with other authors. She contributes to EU and national research projects as a leader, advisor, researcher, and reviewer.

She has been elevated to the grade of Senior Member, which is held only by 10% of the IEEE members, reflects professional maturity, and documented achievements of significance in March 2022.
