Dr. Lütfiye Seda Aydan received her bachelor’s degree in Foreign Language Education from Middle East Technical University (METU) in 2011, graduating as the top-ranked student in both her department and the Faculty of Education. She also completed a minor degree in International Relations at METU. She earned her master’s degree in English Language Teaching in 2014 and completed her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction in 2023 at the same institution. Her doctoral research examined the self-regulated learning strategies of academically successful students in Türkiye and the contextual and instructional factors that foster the development of these strategies. In 2024–2025, she was awarded a Fulbright Postdoctoral Research Scholarship and conducted postdoctoral research as a visiting scholar at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) in the field of Education Studies.
Dr. Aydan has extensive academic and professional experience in teacher education, curriculum development and evaluation, assessment and testing, and higher education language instruction. She served for many years as an instructor at TED University, where she held various academic and administrative roles, including Proficiency Examination Unit Coordinator, Materials and Curriculum Unit Coordinator, and Team Leader. She currently serves as Coordinator of Liberal Education Program at TED University and as the as the academic coordinator at the TED University Continuing Education Center. In addition to her academic work in Türkiye, she has been a visiting scholar in Poland and Slovenia and received education in England and has actively contributed to teacher education through mentoring and practicum supervision.
Her research interests focus on self-regulated learning, teachers’ classroom practices that support learning regulation, lifelong learning, curriculum evaluation, social network analysis, and mixed-methods research. In recent years, her work has increasingly explored the role of artificial intelligence–supported instructional scaffolding in fostering self-regulated learning, particularly in inclusive and diverse educational contexts. Her research has been published in SSCI-, ESCI-, and Scopus-indexed journals, as well as in international edited volumes.
Dr. Aydan is a recipient of the TÜBİTAK National Master’s and Doctoral Scholarships and the Fulbright Postdoctoral Research Award. She actively participates in international research collaborations and is involved in several cross-national research projects conducted in cooperation with institutions in Türkiye, the United States, Switzerland, and Greece.
