Prof. Tuğba Uzer Yıldız

Biography

Currently, I am working as an Associate Professor in Psychology Department at TED University.

My research primarily focuses on understanding how people recall autobiographical memories - memories of personal experiences. There are three themes underlying my research in autobiographical memory. First, I explore how different cueing conditions influence the prevalence of direct and generative retrievals (Uzer, Lee & Brown, 2012; Uzer, 2016; Uzer & Brown, 2017). Second, I study how emotion affects recall properties of autobiographical memories. For example, retrieval problems in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression are examples of my emotion and memory research topics (Uzer & Brown, 2015; Uzer & Gulgoz, 2015). Third, I have been working on transmission of traumatic experiences through individual (autobiographical) and collective memories (Svob, Brown, Reddon, Uzer & Lee, 2013; Uzer, Besiroglu & Karakılıc, 2020; Zeynel & Uzer, 2020).
