Assoc. Prof. Çağla Öneren Şendil

Biography

Çağla Öneren Şendil was born in Lefkoşa in 1985. She completed her B.S. in 2007 from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Psychology in Middle East Technical University (METU). After completing her undergraduate education, she continued her graduate study in METU Faculty of Education, Early Childhood Education department and received her MA in 2010. Subsequently, she received her Pd.D. from the Faculty of Education, Department of Early Childhood Education-METU in 2016 with her doctoral thesis focusing on beliefs and practices of preschool teachers’ on children’s peer relations and peer relation problems. While continuing her graduate study, she worked as a research assistant in the Elementary Education department approximately for 7 years. While working as a research assistant, she took on various tasks of assisting many undergraduate courses and gained the opportunity to contribute her academic experience.

Dr. Şendil has been conducting research on children’s social and emotional development, peer relations, social competences, behavioral problems of children in early childhood, familial attitudes, school readiness and transition to school and assessment of learning and development. She has some international publications and conference papers on these subjects. In addition to her academic work, Dr. Şendil participated in many conferences and workshops related with assessment, evaluation and psychological diagnosis of children offered by Turkish Psychological Association as well as received education in family education and therapy.
