Biography
R. Aslıhan Aksoy-Sheridan works as an assistant professor at TED
University, where she has taught courses on world literature, children's
literature, critical thinking and writing, introduction to cultural
studies, world history, and humanities since 2016.
Before TED
University, she worked as a part-time lecturer at Bilkent University,
and taught Ottoman Turkish at the Ankara Branch of Tarih Vakfı (History
Foundation), between 2014 and 2017.
She received her Ph.D. on early
modern Ottoman cultural history from Bilkent University in 2016.
Previously, she had obtained her B.A. and first M.A. in English
Literature from Boğaziçi University, and in 2009 she received her second
M.A. in Turkish Literature from Bilkent University. She was a
residential junior fellow at Koç University’s Research Center for
Anatolian Civilizations (RCAC) in 2012–2013.
Her scholarly interests
in the area of Ottoman cultural history focus primarily on forms of
literacy and cultural consumption, particularly in miscellanies of the
early modern period.
